Yoga Therapy
Yoga Therapy is a personalized approach toward health and wellness where the client is the co-creator. It is based on classical yoga principles and grounded in relevant scientific research. Traditional tools of yoga such as movement, breath techniques, mindful awareness, and relaxation are incorporated to relieve stress and cultivate ease and connection in life. The process is collaborative and relationship based. Personal empowerment and self-efficacy arise naturally. All aspects of a person’s life are valued, including social engagement and spirituality where client aligned. Curated yoga practices offered in a safe, accepting manner fosters transformative healing.

Yoga therapy is a collaborative endeavor of healing toward wholeness. Each session is tailored to your specific needs and goals. Goals can be around sleep, anxiety, physical discomfort or pain, emotional healing such as grief, letting go of old habits; or symptoms of a particular condition, disorder, or disease.
Your input is key in crafting the sessions. My job is to listen, inquire, discern, and facilitate your progress toward achieving your goals. The full range of methods and techniques yoga has to offer are considered when designing each unique yoga therapy session. Techniques related to movement, breathwork, mindful awareness, meditation, guided relaxation, imagery, sound, and self-reflection are all within the scope of yoga therapy.
What Clients are Saying
Joy is a compassionate, warm, and trusting practitioner who creates a psychologically safe and inviting experience. I valued the depth of her listening, as well as the depth of her knowledge base when recommending a variety of practices to address my needs. She created incredibly helpful handouts after each of our sessions to facilitate home practice. I am very grateful for the time I spent with Joy & would offer my highest recommendation to anyone else considering working with her. JP
Joy really listened to my needs and heard what I wanted to accomplish, especially reducing my stress level. She gave me several go to tools, to use in almost any setting to keep my anxiety from spiraling. I have used these on many occasions with great success. Overall, I feel the yoga stretches/movements I learned with Joy were useful and I have been able to incorporate them easily into my daily routine. I feel better physically and mentally. I would highly recommend Joy without hesitation. SP
Joy shared resources using yoga therapy techniques and personal experience to lesson/quell anxiety and depression. Additionally, she instilled in me improved confidence and self-esteem, both on and off the mat. Joy encouraged me to meditate using Kirtan Kriya. As a result, I have found a method that encourages my desire for meditation! JG
Joy is exceptionally perceptive about one’s emotional needs. As she listened she made observations and assessments regarding my physical abilities. I have several conditions which limit my mobility. Together we tried her suggestions for “work arounds” which would not be painful. I continue to have a deep respect for her knowledge and commitment to helping me continue my yoga practice. MS
